On 13th May 2021, BT announced it was increasing the number of homes it wanted to pass with full-fibre from 20 million to 25 million.
Innopsis therefore thought it was a good time to take stock of the announcements to date from the various fibre suppliers.
There are 32 million premises in the UK, and we have now seen announcements planning to give full-fibre coverage to 65 million homes.
This does not mean that all homes will have at least two potential suppliers. Instead, it probably means that some premises are likely to have multiple suppliers and it does cause me to question whether the last supplier to lay fibre in an already crowded area, will ever do so, as the financial returns seem unlikely.
