Motorola Solutions has reached an agreement with the UK Home Office for a phased implementation of the new Emergency Services Network (ESN), as well as an agreement to extend the nationwide Airwave digital radio network.

The ESN agreement covers a phased approach for deployment of the programme to ensure that public safety organisations can benefit from the new network as soon as possible. The agreements will allow them to implement ESN capabilities at their own pace while maintaining the Airwave network to ensure uninterrupted service.

To support this new phased deployment strategy, the ESN agreement with Motorola Solutions is being extended by 30 months to end-2024. The Airwave agreement will extend the network on similar terms for three additional years to end -2022, with an option to be extended further. As part of its delivery of ESN user services, Motorola will implement a 3GPP standards-based PTT software platform, using technology from subsidiary Kodiak Networks.
